If someone misses a task or your group disagrees, start with what needs sorting out. Explain what you expected and what happened, then ask for their side. They may need a clearer task, more time or help they didn't know how to ask for. Agree what each person will do next and when you'll check back. Get an adult's help if the conversation feels unsafe, the problem keeps happening or the decision isn't yours to make.
Talk it through
- What did we agree, and was that clear to everyone?
- What got in the way of the commitment?
- What needs to happen next for the group to move forward?
Try this next
- Describe the missed commitment without blaming the person.
- Listen to what happened and identify a realistic next step.
- Agree a check-in and ask an adult for help if the issue continues.
